The Road to Socalism Part Two

A friend of mine made a very accurate comment on the previous post. Obama isn't exactly a Socialist himself in the matter of ACTING like one....I don't think HE'S spreading anyone's wealth but OURS (and our children's, and grandchildren's), and I can't imagine he and "her highness" would ever receive nationalized health care.

So let me rephrase: Obama is a power-hungry, money-grubbing, smooth-talking (when the teleprompter is working) country-bankrupting despot who is forcing Socialism on his subjects so that they will indeed be HIS SUBJECTS.

What really bothers me is that Socialism is in direct contrast to Christianity. Yet, in an interview with Christianity Today, January 22, 2008, Obama said, "I believe in the redemptive death and resurrection of Jesus Christ."

Then, from the May 2010 issue of 'Israel Today,' page 3, in the article titled "Obama, a 'Strategic Catastrophe,'" by Aviel Schneider: "The feeling among the Israeli public is that Obama is appeasing the Muslim world at the expense of Israel."

"The American President told me in confidence that he is a Muslim," said Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit on Nile TV."

On August 13, 2010, in One News Now Obama was quoted as saying "I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."

Times they are a-changin'. Or is it just the Politician doing his thing? Which is he? Christian? Muslim? I'm pretty sure you can't be both. Not even if you're the President.

So back to Socalism vs. Christianity: Let me just say, that in my opinion, our fearless leader does not ACT like a Bible believing Christian. I cannot judge his soul; only God knows the truth.

However, the primary command by the God of the Bible is to "Love your neighbor as yourself." (Mark 12:31) Our neighbor is anyone we come in contact with. It is the Christian's responsibility to take care of the widows and orphans. It is the CHURCH who are supposed to be taking care of the poor, feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, and visiting the sick. THAT'S what it's all about.

Socialism is in direct contrast to that! Let the government help you. Let the government tax the crap out of everyone who has worked hard to get where they are and give it to someone who hasn't earned it and may not deserve it. Let the government decide who you will help with your money. What, you don't want to support the perfectly healthy person who "can't" get a job? Sorry. Socialism says "not your choice." I know a person who has not worked in years. Literally years. And yet because they 2 children, this person sits on his or her butt and collects welfare. Could they work? Absolutely! Anything wrong with this person physically or mentally to prohibit them from working? Nope. But MY taxes, YOUR taxes, OUR hard-earned money is paying for this laziness. That makes me angry. How about you?

Do you know what suffered first in the "budget" of the Christian? Giving to missionaries. Eighty percent of missionary support comes from the United States. The government taxed and taxed and taxed some more to pay for money they've already spent, to the detriment of the American family.

18Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28

How can we do that if we don't have money to give?

Our coutry is in crisis. Do not be fooled. God will not hold his wrath forever. Please join me in committing to pray for our nation, and its leaders, daily.

Absolute Truth

This can be a very touchy subject, but for me it is a no brainer. It kind of goes along with what I said yesterday about believing that the Bible is the complete, accurate, inspired word of God.

Historically, the Bible has been proven accurate by both Christian and non-Christian historians.

"Dr. Nelson Glueck, perhaps the utmost modern authority on Israeli archeology, said: "No archeological discovery has ever controverted a Biblical reference. Scores of archeological findings have been made which confirm in clear outline or in exact detail historical statements in the Bible. And, by the same token, proper evaluation of Biblical descriptions has often led to amazing discoveries." {emphasis mine}

There are verses in the Bible that coincide directly with scientific fact, long before any of these facts were known by man. For example:

The Earth is round, not flat as once believed (Isaiah 40:22).
Atmospheric circulation (Ecclesiastes 1:6).
Field of Gravity (Job 26:7).
Biological importance of blood to life (Leviticus 17:11). (see The Bible is True).

Another proof of the accuracy of the Bible is the number of prophecies that have been fulfilled from the prophets. For example, Isaiah predicted that a "prince called Cyrus,...would set the Jews free from captivity one hundred and seventy years" later.

The point is, I could "argue" the accuracy of the Bible all day long. I just wanted to confirm a few things right up front so that you could see the beginning of the basis of why I believe in the absolute truth of the Bible. There are specific passages that I will examine in detail further along in this blog.

I base all of my opinions on the Bible, and how it says we should live. To me, absolute truth means there is black and white. It may be a difficult answer, it may be something you and I don't want to hear, or follow through on, but whatever the question, the answer can be found in the word of God.

I'm going to start with something I think is a very simple concept that many, many people have made entirely too complicated. Prop 8 in California was recently overturned. Prop 8 was passed in California as a bill stating that marriage is one man and one woman. (Can you imagine if we could tell our forefathers that shortly after the year 2000 we would have to define marriage as one man and one woman?)

Prop 8 was a good thing. I was actually surprised that uber-liberal California of all places, would pass such a bill. But now it has been overturned, and that is a mistake. The Bible says “Do not practice homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman. It is a detestable sin." Leviticus 18:22

"9 For the law was not intended for people who do what is right. It is for people who are lawless and rebellious, who are ungodly and sinful, who consider nothing sacred and defile what is holy, who kill their father or mother or commit other murders. 10 The law is for people who are sexually immoral, or who practice homosexuality, or are slave traders, liars, promise breakers, or who do anything else that contradicts the wholesome teaching 11 that comes from the glorious Good News entrusted to me by our blessed God." I Timothy 1:9-11

You'll notice in this passage that it is not JUST homosexuality that is named a sin. And it is important to remember that sin is sin is sin...to God there is no difference between lying and murder. Today's Christians tend to "rate" sin, and homosexuality is way up there on their list.

Romans 5:8 says "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." God knows all the ins and outs of our lives. The good, the bad, and the ugly. The gay, the straight, the murderer, the liar, the cheater, the fornicator...we are all loved by God. We have been since before we were born. And we are all sinners.

The Bible also says " 1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. "
Romans 8:1-2

"37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:37-39

As Christians, we have a responsibility, nay, an obligation to stand up for Biblical principals in our society. We cannot just sit back, throw up our hands and say, "well, the country is just going to hell in a hand basket."

We have said that long enough. Now is the time to get off our collective butts, and start making a difference for what we believe. Get out and vote! If you are not registered to vote, GET registered. It is our civic and spiritual responsibility. In the vote this past Tuesday to choose the candidates for Governor of Michigan, about 20% of registered voters turned out. That's pathetic. And it's just plain shameful.

Christianity and Politics

I can just hear some of my friends now:"Oh no she didn't!"

Oh yes, she DID!

I am a Christian. I am NOT a politician. I do not have any desire to be a politician. But recently, I was totally inspired by a message by Charles Stanley on the changing tide of America. I will probably reference this message more as I go along, but I wanted to start by introducing myself and telling you what this blog will be about.

My name is Kerri. I am a Bible believing (not thumping) Christian wife and mom. My son will be 4 in less than 2 weeks. {Sigh} I home school. My husband is amazing, strong, full of integrity and character, and is the love of my life, 2nd only to God.

I have a neuromuscular disease called myasthenia gravis. You can read about my life with chronic illness here on my other blog. I cannot physically march in protest, go door to door with petitions, or storm the capitol. But what I can do, I will. I can write.

The trends in America are shocking, to be completely frank. Charles Stanley said, "The government was created to protect us, not to take care of us." Please read that again. The government was created to protect us: our economy, our freedoms, our liberties, our very lives. And they are doing a crappy job.

The God of the Bible does not support our current government, I can promise you that. I am not a Bible scholar, but I am a God-follower, and I believe in the Bible as the total, complete, inspired word of God. I believe there is ONE way to God the Father, and that is through Jesus Christ, His Son. There are not "many paths" that take you to heaven. There is one.

I believe that God can and wants to save everyone. I believe that it grieves Him to see the state that America is in. And I believe He will not withhold his wrath forever.

What this blog is NOT: It is not a sensationalist, conspiracy-theory-touting platform. It is one girl sharing her belief system with the world because someone needs to call foul on the way this country is being run into the ground.

Did you know: As of the 4th of July, 2010, each taxpaying citizen would have to cough up over $118,000 dollars to forgive the national deficit? That we work a full FOUR months out of twelve to pay taxes?

I'm NOT saying don't pay taxes, so call off the dogs.

I think this country has one foot over the threshold of Socialism, and once we go through it, we have sold our souls.

Please stay with me as we discuss how God plays a role in politics, how this country has defaulted from its original reasons for being founded, and what we can do about it.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and God Bless!
